OTR Remold Tires
Our Way, the remold tire, the best way!
Step 1: Inspection
The first step in the process is an inspection this process is done with an NDT machine. NDT stands for Non-Destructive Testing and we now have the ability to test inside the tire to determine if any steel cords are damaged or rusted, we also have the ability to determine if a tire has been run under-inflated. This enables McDonald Tire LLC to reject any tire that is not a prime candidate for a full and useful additional life. Thanks to NDT machines our Tire failure rate is at an all-time low.
Step 4: Press
Now that the tire has the perfect circumference it is loaded into a Hydraulic Press with 10,000 Pounds of Pressure. This ensures that every single tire comes out the same Circumference every time.
Step 2: Buffing
After passing inspection the tire is sent to the buffing station in this station the tire is buffed to a precise Circumference. This is a precise measurement that is decided by what tread pattern is chosen by the customer.
Step 3: Build
After being buffed the tire is sent to the build station in this station the computer calculates how much raw rubber needs to be extruded on the tire to create the perfect circumference.

Retread/Recap
Tires
Building phase: the inspected/buffed casing will add a thin layer of cushion gum, which acts as an adherent between the vulcanized pre-cured tread and the tire. After the cushion gum has been administrated the retreader will add the vulcanized pre-cured tread pattern over top splicing the ends and holding them together with staples before entering the curing chamber. The tire is then placed in a pressurized heated chamber by air produced through electricity, steam or hot liquid such as oil. The prepared casing, with the new rubber in place, is put into the chamber where pressure and temperature, applied over the correct length of time, cure the cushion gum layer and bond the tread to the tire.
